President Obama’s technical team envisions Cloud Computing

As President Barack Obama was sworn in just after 12 noon, the website whitehouse.gov changed, adopting the design and features of the Obama Change.gov team’s transition website. There will be many more changes along the way, and Cloud Computing is a key element of the new administration’s Technology Innovation and Government Reform (TIGR) program.

In a video posted on YouTube on Friday, the TIGR team outlined its goals, including the move to Cloud Computing.

TIGR member Andrew McLaughlin, who heads public policy and government affairs for Google, described the use of cloud computing as one of the most important transformations facing the federal government over the next decade, noting the cost benefits of cloud infrastructure.

This video lasts about 4 minutes, the discussion on the Cloud starts at about 3 minutes.
